Tertiary Minerals Defines Higher-Grade Silver-Copper-Zinc Zone in Zambia
Tertiary Minerals Expands High-Grade Copper-Silver Zone at Mushima North in Zambia
Tertiary Minerals has delineated a higher-grade, shallow silver-copper-zinc mineralised zone at its Target A1 prospect within the Mushima North project in Zambia, following results from its Phase 4 drilling programme.
The company has received assay results from 29 of 39 holes drilled during the 3,639-metre programme, with results from a further eight holes still pending. Two additional holes are yet to be submitted for analysis.
The higher-grade zone extends about 400 metres along strike and 150 metres in width and remains open at depth.
Significant intersections include 52 metres grading 99 g/t silver, 0.41% copper and 0.43% zinc, as well as 22 metres at 90 g/t silver, 0.13% copper and 0.44% zinc.
Drilling also returned high-grade copper intersections, including 10 metres at 1.01% copper, 165 g/t silver and 0.78% zinc from a depth of 80 metres, and 5 metres at 1.01% copper, 164 g/t silver and 0.15% zinc from 101 metres.
Target A1 has a previously defined near-surface exploration target of 15 million to 30 million tonnes grading between 40 g/t and 60 g/t silver equivalent.
Several recent holes ended in mineralisation beyond the current exploration target boundary, indicating potential for further expansion.
The exploration programme has also identified potential critical-mineral content, with laboratory assays returning grades of up to 0.53% bismuth, 0.22% antimony and 0.39% cobalt.
Tertiary said the economic potential of these accessory minerals has not yet been assessed.
A separate shallow copper discovery was identified about 900 metres west-southwest of the main discovery zone. Initial portable X-ray fluorescence results included 25 metres at 0.38% copper from 19 metres and 26 metres at 0.13% copper from 23 metres.
Mushima North is located within Zambia’s prospective Iron-Oxide-Copper-Gold region, approximately 28 kilometres east of the historic Kalengwa copper-silver mine, which is being redeveloped.
Tertiary Minerals said the latest results support further evaluation of the project’s bulk-tonnage, near-surface mineralisation, while additional drilling and outstanding assays are expected to provide further information on the scale and continuity of the mineralised system.
